Artist’s Project: Adam Chodzko

By Adam Chodzko

Over the course of 16 pages, the British artist offers a “journey to one page” in particular—a unique object hand-inserted into each copy of Esopus 17.

Adam Chodzko’s conceptually driven work spans a range of media from video, installation art, and performance to fly-posters and drawing. Born in London, Chodzko studied art history at the University of Manchester and fine art at Goldsmiths College in London. Since 1991, his work has been exhibited at the Tate St. Ives; the Venice Biennale; the Royal Academy, London; the Deste Foundation, Athens; and P.S.1/MoMA in New York. Recent projects include commissions by Creative Time, the Contemporary Art Society, Frieze Art Fair, and Hayward Gallery. In 2002, Chodzko received awards from the Hamlyn Foundation and Foundation for Contemporary Art, and in 2007, he was awarded an AHRC Creative Research Fellowship in the film department at the University of Kent, Canterbury. His work is in the permanent collections of the Tate Gallery, the British Council, the Arts Council, and numerous museums and private collections. Chodzko lives and works in Whitstable, Kent.
