Walt Whitman Award–winning poet Suji Kwock Kim provides 22 drafts of her acclaimed poem Generation, worked and reworked over a six-month period

Suji Kwock Kim’s first collection of poetry, Notes from the Divided Country, won the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets. Her work has appeared in numerous anthologies, as well as in The Paris Review, The New Republic, Poetry, and Threepenny Review. She is a 2008 NEA/ U.S.-Japan Creative Artists Fellow and teaches in the MFA program at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
